I've been meaning to 'favorite' this elegant, pretty image for days. Message boxes on this site get packed faster than I can keep up with them, though.
There are a lot of things I like about this picture. I like how the flat looks so empty--as though even if one imagines the other rooms in the place, one cannot easily picture too much furniture in them. I like how aged the textures look. I like how the view out of the window is a bit crammed and how it also looks like it, depicted on its own, could be one stripe of a diptych.
Then, of course, there's the female figure, which, at first glance, by way of the spectacles and the colors, reminds one of a Velma Dinkley in the evening ... but mostly, she is just well drawn. Her hair, particularly, but the slouch to her socks and the bend in her torso are also good, attentive details.
